Forest Management Planning

A forest management plan is the cornerstone of a well managed forest.  Whether you are looking to manage your property for white tail deer, maintain your forest for future generations, or enroll your property in a tax relief program, a forest management plan is the place to start.  Utilizing the time tested science of silviculture, forest management plans lay out the necessary forest practices needed to accomplish your goals.

Why hire an accredited forester to do my planning?

While many landowners might not realize it, not all plan writers are foresters.  Foresters undergo a very rigorous training that ensures all elements of your forested property are appropriately managed.  Through a mix of science and economics, foresters carry a skill set unlike any other in the natural resource community.  Gaining accreditation is not just a pledge to implement sound, scientific management, but a demonstrated commitment to pursue any and all new knowledge that may be available.  Simply put, accredited foresters are the best in the business.

We at West Shore Forestry are committed to pursuing and maintaining our accreditations in order to better serve our customers.

What Should a Forest Management Plan Cost?

There are many factors that go into determining the price of a forest management plan.  The size of a property, amount of management activities, and complexity of the management all play important roles in determining cost.

We at West Shore Forestry are committed to delivering our clients the best plan for sustainable forest management, and we believe that price should not be a limiting factor when choosing a forester.  We will work with our landowners to provide flexible, fair pricing on our management plans with top quality results, regardless of budget.  One of the ways we do this is by participating with the US Forest Service & Michigan DNR's Forest Stewardship Program.  Additionally, we build into our plans the necessary elements to participate with the Natural Resource Conservation Service's Environmental Quality Incentives Program cost share program.

Finally, every Forest Management Plan developed by West Shore Forestry comes with the guarantee that it will be accepted by the Qualified Forest Program, Forest Stewardship Program, or Tree Farm, or we will amend it at no cost until it does.

Having your management plan developed through West Shore Forestry ensures it will be the highest caliber plan available.
